What to Do After a Texas Roofing Storm

A simple first-response checklist after wind, hail, falling limbs, or a sudden roof leak.

The short answer

Prioritize safety, document what you can see from the ground, protect the interior if water is entering, and schedule a roof inspection rather than climbing onto a damaged roof yourself.

Put safety first

Stay clear of downed lines, unstable trees, and wet roof surfaces. If the property has an immediate safety issue, follow local emergency guidance. A damaged roof can look stable from the ground while still being unsafe to walk on.

Document visible conditions

Take date-stamped photos from the ground when it is safe: roof debris, damaged gutters, broken branches, water stains, and the sides of the building. Avoid trying to create a full damage report yourself; the goal is simply to preserve what you can safely observe.

Limit interior damage

If water is entering, move belongings out of the affected area and use safe containers or coverings to protect the interior. Do not make a repair that puts you in danger. Tell the roofing team whether the leak is active and where it is showing up.

Get a professional roof review

An inspection can help organize the next step and provide useful information for your own records or insurer. Premier Roofing and Construction can discuss the visible roofing condition and project scope; your insurance carrier makes coverage decisions.

Helpful information is not a roof inspection, policy interpretation, or insurance coverage decision. Conditions and available services depend on the actual property.
